Victor Azzopardi holds five decades of experience in gold and silversmithing. He specialises in the creation of handmade Maltese domestic silverware and ecclesiastical artefacts, each bearing his mark AVL. He blends the contemporary with the traditional by reproducing silver artefacts that were originally created in the 17th and 18th centuries using age-old techniques, all while adapting the wares to contemporary living. His long-term objective to create a range of unique reproductions of fine handmade silver artefacts led to the launch of The Maltese Silver Collection®, a display of limited-edition timeless pieces in solid sterling silver that are in-keeping with the styles passed down through generations, a preservation of National Heritage. The development of artigjan, a digital platform, aims to educate and raise awareness of this unique craft, to safeguard its survival.
