Maria Comerford is passionate about every aspect of fabrics, with all the different textures, colour designs, and their various functions and uses in everyday life – whether for garments, home furnishings, or interiors. After years working as a bespoke tailor for women, in clothes manufacturing, and as a designer and producer of home furnishing, she brought together all of her working experiences to set up Bits n Denim, which upcycles used garments, discarded furnishings, and leather into sustainable designer bags and accessories. Her mission is to advocate for the fashion industry to focus more on craft and creativity, and less on the idea of fashion and accessories being instantly disposable. Her vision is to live in a world in which everyone choses to use environmentally friendly sustainable bags.
