Antoine Vella, commonly known as Antoine tan-Newl and owner Weaving Malta, has been mastering the skill of weaving since a very young age. He was tutored by his parents in their family business, who instilled in him the love for weaving. The weaving trade, considered to be one of the oldest crafts in the world, has so far endured the challenge of times and has lately increased in interest and appreciation. Antoine tries to keep this tradition alive as much as possible with sustainable handmade carpets, throwovers, cushion covers, bags, and bespoke items woven on the traditional looms using mostly cotton and maltese sheep wool. He takes part in all main cultural events around Malta and he even was invited to take part and make weaving props for international films being shot in Malta. He even took his loom to the L’Artigiano in Fiera in Milan, Italy, garnering a lot of interest in his work
